Former Border Patrol Policeman Arrested for Shooting and Killing Junior in Restaurant.

Chiang Kham: A former retired Border Patrol Police officer has been arrested for allegedly shooting a .357 revolver at a young friend, resulting in the latter’s death at a restaurant.

According to Thai News Agency, a video clip surfaced showing tourists enjoying a band performance when a gunshot was heard, startling the singer. This was followed by three more shots, making a total of four gunshots, which were accompanied by screams. The sudden violence caused panic among the tourists, who began to flee the scene, while the band ceased playing. The incident took place at approximately 11:25 p.m. in a restaurant located in Tambon Yuan, Amphoe Chiang Kham, Phayao Province.

Following the incident, local police and rescue workers arrived at the scene, where they found Pol. Lt. Chan, aged 64, being restrained by civilians. The police recovered the .357 revolver used in the incident as evidence. Nearby, they discovered the body of Pol. Sgt. Maj. Banjerd, aged 52, seated face down on a dining table with four bullet
wounds to his head. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of death.

The restaurant owner reported that the deceased was a frequent visitor, often coming to drink due to his close friendship with her husband. CCTV footage revealed that the suspect approached the victim without any prior altercation and immediately shot him.
