Former Referee Criticizes VAR Decision in Argentina vs. Egypt World Cup Match

Buenos aires: Egypt should not have had their goal disallowed in their loss to Argentina. Former Premier League referee Graham Scott believes the collision before Egypt's goal was not a foul, and that the VAR referee overused its authority in Argentina's 3-2 victory over Egypt in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16.

According to Thai News Agency, the controversial incident occurred before Zico scored in the 67th minute. The referee received a signal from VAR to review the replay and ruled that Marwan Attilla had fouled Lisandro Martinez, resulting in the goal being disallowed.

However, Scott viewed the collision as simply a normal contact in football, not a foul.
