Former Teacher Seeks Investigation Into Alleged Corruption in Chiang Rai Schools

Chiang rai: A former teacher from Chiang Rai has petitioned Pol. Gen. Seripisut Temiyaves to reveal evidence of corruption in schools after his requests for an investigation were disregarded by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Ministry of Interior.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Seripisut Temiyaves, a Member of Parliament from the Seri Ruam Thai Party, received a letter from Mr. Boonthan Thammapanya, a former teacher, seeking justice regarding his complaint of corruption at a school in Chiang Rai province. Despite providing comprehensive evidence of the alleged corruption, Mr. Thammapanya's complaint was dismissed by both the NACC in Chiang Rai and the Minister of Interior.

Mr. Boonthan Thampanya explained that he traveled by motorcycle from Chiang Rai Province, feeling he had been treated unfairly. His complaints detailed corruption at a local school, including allegations of "ghost students" and the misappropriation of school cooperative store shares into the school director's account. Despite submitting these complaints to multiple authorities, including the Chiang Rai Provincial Anti-Corruption Commission (P.P.C.) and Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, they were not addressed. He stressed that his evidence, such as the official student identification numbers, is both authentic and verifiable. The issue involving the school coffee shop and the transfer of shares was dismissed by the Chiang Rai Provincial P.P.C., citing a lack of accounting records and a central account. The absence of a safe for storing money further complicates the situation, leaving the whereabouts of the funds unknown.

Pol. Gen. Seripisut Temiyaves noted that the Parliament has not yet formed a committee on this matter. He assured that he would consider the issue to determine the appropriate committee and assist in coordinating further follow-up actions.
