Bangkok: The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, through the Department of Elderly Affairs, has partnered with Sea (Thailand) and Shopee (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to launch an innovative training program titled "Shop and Sell Successfully on Shopee." This initiative aims to equip senior citizens with the necessary online sales skills, ranging from setting up an online store to generating sales, while also providing essential knowledge on cybersecurity. The program is designed to enhance career opportunities and income sustainability in the digital era for the elderly population.

According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongslueykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, emphasized the government's commitment to creating career opportunities for senior citizens in the digital economy. By developing essential online skills, the initiative aligns with Thailand's strategic preparations for an aging society. The Department of Elderly Affairs, in collaboration with Sea (Thailand) and Shopee (Thailand) Co., Ltd., recently conducted a workshop titled "Shop and Sell on Shopee" at the Sea (Thailand) office. This workshop aims to empower senior citizens to utilize their digital knowledge, enabling them to generate income from their own products.

The course is structured to be accessible and practical for senior citizens, covering various aspects such as setting up an online store, managing the shopfront, product photography, crafting product descriptions, pricing, using marketing tools, handling orders, and generating income through online brokerage. It offers an alternative for seniors seeking to earn income without the need to invest in inventory or manage shipping personally. Additionally, the course includes cybersecurity training, teaching participants how to identify online scams and conduct safe digital transactions. The training program attracted 250 participants, showcasing the increasing interest among senior citizen networks in developing digital skills for online careers and income generation.

The government is determined to ensure that senior citizens not only keep up with the digital age but also use technology to create sustainable careers and increase their income. This project represents a significant step towards opening opportunities for seniors to learn new skills and confidently evolve into online entrepreneurs. It aims to foster long-term economic stability for senior citizens and their families.
