Phitsanulok:Many individuals seek a turning point from their routine jobs. For Ae-Wimol Fakthong, this change led to establishing Hed Delight Thai Organic Co., Ltd. and the Phitsanulok Mushroom Cultivation Community Enterprise Group. Previously a full-time employee with frequent travel, Ae was motivated not by the pursuit of wealth but by the desire to find a suitable career. Disliking work in the sun or mud, she turned to mushroom cultivation in greenhouses. After just two days of research, she committed to this new path.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ae faced challenges, particularly rising sawdust costs. She innovatively used local rice straw from Ban Tha Chang, reducing transportation costs and addressing the issue of rice straw burning, a significant PM 2.5 pollution source. While managing the straw's difficult chopping process was initially challenging, she adapted by using machinery, eventually increasing her production capacity.
Mushroom Delight's success stems from a collaborative effort involving government assistance, financial support from the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), and academic mentorship from universities. Advanced technology such as mobile apps for humidity control has led to organic certification for their mushrooms. The business has expanded into producing health-conscious products, including mushroom chili paste and tom yum-flavored crispy mushrooms under the "Mudjai" brand.
Ae emphasizes that passion is essential for aspiring entrepreneurs. She believes that passion makes overcoming challenges more manageable. Patience, problem-solving, and action-taking are vital for sustainable business growth. Starting small, with determination and a supportive network, can lead to a stable career and community contribution.
