Bangkok: Pattaya Tourist Police arrested a gang of transgender individuals who assaulted and robbed an Australian tourist in a chaotic incident. Mr. Rajinish Jasuja, 53, an Australian citizen, was assaulted and robbed by a group of transgender women. This incident has severely damaged the image of Australia as a world-class tourist destination. The incident occurred on December 27, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, Pattaya Tourist Police did not remain idle. After investigators from Pattaya City Police Station questioned the victims, they coordinated with investigative teams from both Pattaya City Police Station and Pattaya Tourist Police. They then deployed officers to the area to gather clues from CCTV footage and witness statements, which led to the identification of the perpetrators. The Pattaya Provincial Court issued an arrest warrant on June 29, 2026, on charges of jointly committing robbery at night and jointly causing physical and mental harm.

Police followed leads and learned that some of the perpetrators had fled the area, while others were still living normally in Pattaya. Upon locating the individuals named in the arrest warrants, they apprehended them. The first, Mr. Peerapong, 19, was arrested in front of a condominium in Pattaya. The second, Ms. Pimphisa, 20, was also arrested in front of a condominium in Pattaya. The third, Mr. Chanachai, 20, was arrested in front of a restaurant in Maha Sarakham province. The fourth, Mr. Pongsakorn, 18, was arrested at his residence in Ratchaburi province.

Initially, all four confessed to being the individuals named in the arrest warrants but denied the charges. However, they have been taken into custody and handed over to investigators to proceed according to legal procedures.
