Gen Z Embraces Thai Hair Garlands, Boosting Flower Sales

Nakhon Ratchasima:The viral trend of using "hair garlands" has captured the attention of Gen Z teenagers across various provinces, including Nakhon Ratchasima. Students have been purchasing these traditional Thai garlands from local markets to adorn their hair, leading to a significant rise in flower sales.

According to Thai News Agency, the trend has particularly taken off at Mae Kim Heng Market in Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima district, where flower and garland vendors have reported over a 30% increase in sales. Groups of teenagers and students are buying these garlands not only as fashion accessories but also to showcase them in photos at notable landmarks.

These young individuals often head to sites such as the Ya Mo Monument and Chumphon Gate for their photoshoots, blending contemporary fashion with the city's cultural landmarks. The Thao Suranari Monument Square, or Ya Mo Square, has become a popular spot for these activities, as it holds spiritual significance for the local community.

Two students, Fairy and Ploysai, exemplify this trend, choosing iconic landmarks as their backdrop. They expressed that while hair garlands are trendy, they also see it as a way to preserve Thai culture. By integrating traditional elements into modern fashion, they hope to inspire others to embrace Thai identity and ensure the continued relevance of Thai cultural practices.
