Bangkok: "Big Dul," a nickname for General Apirat Kongsompong, has expressed his unwavering support for the Commander of the 4th Army Region, praising his commitment and dedication to the region. This comes amidst rising calls from local residents for the Commander's removal from his post.
According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defence, extended words of encouragement to Lieutenant General Narathip Poynok, the current Commander of the 4th Army Region. Despite the clamor for his removal, Boonthamcharoen highlighted Poynok's unwavering dedication and their personal friendship, which dates back to their time together in Isaan. The Minister emphasized the importance of employing royal strategies to engage with local Islamic boarding schools, such as Pondok and Tadikah, to foster understanding and build trust within the community.
The Minister further advised General Poynok to implement the royal strategy in alignment with the government's policy of "Understanding, Accessing, and Developing." He suggested that by engaging with Islamic religious schools and private institutions, the Commander could lay the groundwork for collaborative development. Boonthamcharoen reiterated that this approach has proven successful in various regions and scenarios where the royal strategy has been applied.
Addressing concerns about potential unrest due to information operations and propaganda calling for the Commander's transfer, the Minister expressed confidence that these matters had been resolved. He assured that discussions had taken place to ensure mutual understanding, thereby diffusing the situation and promoting peace in the area.
