Bangkok: General Kriangkrai Srirak, the vice president of the Senate, has avoided engaging with the media regarding a summons from the Election Commission (EC). This summons is part of an investigation involving 55 senators, including General Kriangkrai, concerning allegations of collusion in electing senators.

According to Thai News Agency, General Kriangkrai declined to give any interviews to reporters after the 26th Central Investigation and Inquiry Committee of the EC issued a letter inviting him and other senators to acknowledge the charges by May 19. When approached by reporters, General Kriangkrai attempted to walk away, stating, “I won’t give an interview.” He further dismissed inquiries about the receipt of the letter by merely waving at the reporters before hastily departing. When pressed on how he would address the EC summons, he remained silent.

On the same day, General Kriangkrai was seen presiding over the World Economic Seminar on the Role of China-Thailand. Following his opening remarks, he exited the venue through a different route than he had used to enter. Reporters attempted to follow him for further questions, but parliament police intervened to prevent them from approaching the Senate Vice President.
