Giant Spider Web Discovered Inside Cave

Bangkok: An international team of researchers has discovered a giant spider web in a cave, with more than 100,000 spiders living on it: An international team of researchers and scientists has uncovered a giant spider web inside the Sulphur Cave, located on the border of Greece and Albania. The web, estimated to be 100 square meters in size, stretches across the cave walls and contains approximately 110,000 spiders, comprising two species living together.

According to Thai News Agency, the discovery is significant not only due to the web’s size but also because it challenges common understanding of spider behavior. Typically, spiders are solitary creatures, making this congregation of such a large number in one place unusual.

Researchers believe that the cave’s environment is conducive to this phenomenon due to the abundance of small insects that inhabit it. These insects serve as a plentiful food source for the insect-eating spiders, which might explain the large spider population within the cave.
