Rome: The call for nominations for the Glinka World Soil Prize 2025 is now officially open, inviting submissions until the deadline on 01 September 2025. This prestigious award seeks to honor individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to sustainable soil management and the protection of soil resources globally.
According to EMM, the Glinka World Soil Prize, named after the renowned Russian soil scientist Konstantin Glinka, recognizes those whose leadership and activities have positively impacted sustainable soil practices. The prize highlights the importance of soil management in enhancing food security, environmental preservation, and poverty alleviation. It encourages stakeholders and soil practitioners to focus on field-oriented initiatives addressing soil degradation, a critical environmental challenge.
Nominations are open to all individuals and organizations, but only FAO members or their GSP focal points can submit candidates. Self-nominations and nominations by individuals are not accepted. The nomination process involves a preliminary screening by the GSP Secretariat, followed by a final evaluation by the selection committee. The Russian Federation supports the Glinka World Soil Prize, reinforcing its commitment to addressing soil-related environmental issues.
