According to Thai News Agency, the government is actively monitoring the situation of heavy rainfall and flooding impacting several regions. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Ms. Supajee Suthamphan, has directed the Ministry of Commerce to manage the supply and pricing of essential goods. The focus is on preventing shortages and keeping prices affordable, with coordination efforts underway to ensure delivery of goods to areas affected by the floods.

Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, stated that Ms. Supajee has instructed provincial commerce offices to track the availability of products and pricing in their areas. They are tasked with identifying impacted locations and the needs of the populace, enabling the central government to swiftly coordinate relief efforts and ensure goods are delivered where needed, especially where transportation is hindered or demand has surged.

Provincial commerce offices are also tasked with collaborating with local wholesalers, retailers, and businesses to maintain and replenish essential stock levels. Should any transportation or distribution issues arise, they are to report to the Ministry of Commerce for rapid intervention and support in importing necessary goods.

Ms. Lalida emphasized the importance of preventing shortages and price hikes during the flood crisis. Provincial commerce offices must monitor the situation closely and work with businesses to quickly address increased demand by replenishing supplies as needed.

The public is encouraged to report any occurrences of unfair pricing, shortages, hoarding, or failure to display prices to the Department of Internal Trade hotline at 1569 or local commerce offices. Officials will then investigate and take appropriate legal actions.
