Bangkok: The government is extending financial support to citizens through a new initiative allowing individuals to pawn items at pawnshops with no interest for three months on loans up to 5,000 baht. This initiative will be available from January 1st to 31st, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, the Government Pawnshop Office (GPO) under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) is implementing this policy to ensure equal access to financial services. Citizens are encouraged to utilize the "Interest-Free Pawning Service for 3 Months," which is available for loan amounts not exceeding 5,000 baht. Each individual is entitled to one right per pawn ticket. This initiative aims to enhance liquidity and ease financial burdens at the start of the year in a transparent and equitable manner.
