Bangkok: The government is reaching out to citizens to review their applications for the 'State Welfare Card 2026', stressing the importance of verifying eligibility to prevent potential tax and legal issues.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, announced that individuals who did not meet the criteria of the 2026 State Welfare Registration Project, or those who suspect inaccuracies in their eligibility verification information, are encouraged to request a review by August 31, 2026. This initiative, approved by the Cabinet on July 27, 2026, aims to ensure the accuracy of government databases, which can affect eligibility, tax, and legal obligations. Key issues to address include names wrongly recorded as directors, shareholders, or employees of unknown businesses, and discrepancies in vehicle registrations.
Ms. Lalida emphasized the importance of correcting inaccurate data to avoid unwarranted tax or legal responsibilities. She noted that rectifying such inaccuracies can prevent the misuse of personal information in illegal activities. The government has implemented a process for verifying facts and taking necessary legal actions in each case. 'The eligibility review process not only ensures rightful access to welfare benefits but also allows individuals to check how their names and assets are recorded in the system. Reporting any anomalies to relevant agencies can prevent further complications,' Ms. Lalida explained.
To streamline the process, the Ministry of Interior has established One-Stop Service centers across 76 provinces and 878 districts to assist citizens in verifying their eligibility and identity. These centers aim to ease the burden on individuals by coordinating with various agencies, although some cases might require additional documentation or procedures as per agency guidelines.
The Deputy Spokesperson reiterated the deadline for submitting review requests is August 31, 2026. Corrections with the eligibility verification agency must be completed by September 20, 2026. Those who qualify initially or through the review process will start accessing benefits on October 1, 2026. Submitting a review request does not guarantee eligibility, as outcomes depend on agency verifications. The government advises the public to stay informed through the 2026 State Welfare Registration Project's website or official Ministry of Finance channels to avoid misinformation.
