Government Confirms Exclusion of Prachinburi from Eastern Economic Corridor

Prachinburi: The government has confirmed that Prachinburi province will not be included in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) following public protests. Officials highlighted that any development in the area must balance economic aspects with environmental considerations, quality of life, and the voices of the people.

According to Thai News Agency, the decision comes after significant public opposition to the province's inclusion in the EEC. Residents and environmental groups had raised concerns about the potential impact of large-scale industrial projects on the local environment and community well-being. The government acknowledged these concerns and reiterated its commitment to sustainable development practices.

The Eastern Economic Corridor is a major development initiative aimed at boosting Thailand's economy through increased industrial activity and infrastructure improvements. However, the exclusion of Prachinburi indicates a shift towards a more inclusive approach to development, ensuring that local communities have a say in projects that affect their region.
