Government Denies Social Train Service Cancellations Amid Circulating Rumors

Bangkok: The government confirms that 30 social train services are operating as normal and have not been cancelled, contrary to what has been reported on social media. The government requests cooperation in refraining from sharing or forwarding such messages to prevent confusion.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that images of an internal document from the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) have been circulating on social media. These images indicate plans to suspend 30 social service train services and reduce the routes of 16 train services starting June 1, 2026, causing panic and anxiety among the public, students, and those relying on rail transportation.

The State Railway of Thailand has clarified and confirmed that there will be no cancellations or reductions of any social service train services on June 1, 2026. Passengers can still travel according to their normal schedules on all routes. The memo circulating on social media is merely an internal document seeking approval in principle within the management chain and has not been authorized for public release, Ms. Ploytalay emphasized.

Ms. Ploytalay stated that the government, through the State Railway of Thailand and the Ministry of Transport, is aware of the importance of social rail services for public transportation. Any future changes must be considered carefully. The SRT confirms that there will be no sudden cancellations of train services or operations without alternative public transportation options to avoid public hardship. Every step will undergo scrutiny and incorporate public feedback. The government requests the public to refrain from sharing or forwarding the document to prevent further confusion. The public can verify train schedules or follow official announcements on the State Railway of Thailand website, the passenger train tracking system, the SRT PR team's Facebook page, or the Customer Service Center, which is available 24 hours a day.
