Bangkok: The government invites Thai people to go on the Hajj pilgrimage, get health check-ups and vaccinations under the concept of “HEALTH for HAJJ” from today until May 31. Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that the government, through the Ministry of Public Health, has organized a health system to facilitate Thais who will travel to perform the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. There will be 6,603 Thais traveling to perform the Hajj pilgrimage under the concept of ‘HEALTH for HAJJ.’ The Ministry of Public Health has opened a service for vaccination against meningococcal and influenza before traveling, and has sent a medical team to provide care during the ceremony and monitor health after returning. Pilgrims in various provinces can contact the Ministry of Public Health service centers in their area from today until 31 May 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Karam said that the government prioritizes the health care system for Thai Muslims who travel to perform the Hajj pilgrimage every year. Each year, approximately 13,000 Thai Muslims are given a quota. This year, the policy is being implemented under the concept of HEALTH FOR HAJJ, in which all pilgrims will receive health preparations before traveling, including health check-ups, vaccinations, and issuance of certificates of immunity. The Ministry of Public Health has allocated vaccines to public health agencies in all areas where pilgrims have registered to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. In addition, a team of doctors and nurses has been dispatched to provide health care during the pilgrimage and to monitor their health after returning to Thailand.
‘Promoting the health of Thai Muslims who will travel for the pilgrimage, in addition to being a cooperation in maintaining the health security of Thai people of all religions, is also a demonstration of promoting cooperation in public health between Thailand and Saudi Arabia and helping to strengthen the relationship between the two countries even more. Currently, cooperation in economics, trade and investment, food security, energy, tourism and culture between the two countries is expanding well,’ said Mr. Karam.
For the Hajj pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2025 or Hijri (A.H.) 1446, held between 4-9 June 2025, this year there are 6,603 Thai Muslims who have registered and are ready to travel to perform the pilgrimage. All pilgrims must be vaccinated against meningococcal disease at least 10 days before traveling, according to the requirements of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
