Bangkok: The government is paving the way for restaurants to engage in the "Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40" initiative through food delivery platforms starting June 15th. This move aims to enhance restaurant revenue and offer convenience to the public.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, the government is broadening the "Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40" measure to encompass food delivery systems. The initiative is designed to expand sales channels for restaurants and beverage businesses, while simplifying the public's ability to utilize their benefits through delivery applications. This development aligns with modern spending habits and is intended to stimulate the grassroots economy comprehensively.
The deputy spokesperson explained that citizens will have the opportunity to use their benefits via food delivery platforms from June 15 to September 30, 2026, during the hours of 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Food and beverage businesses interested in participating can join the program through delivery platforms starting June 10, 2026.
Merchants are required to process transactions through the "Tung Ngern" application. To do this, they must download or update the app to its latest version, then select the "Food Delivery Project" banner within the app to agree to the terms and conditions before choosing their preferred food delivery platform provider.
Upon completion of this process, participating shops can accept orders from the public through the delivery system. The platform will arrange for riders to pick up and deliver the goods as usual, and shops can track their payment history using the "Thung Ngern" application.
The government anticipates that integrating the Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40 project with food delivery platforms will create more market opportunities for small restaurants, increase sales and revenue for entrepreneurs, and provide the public with easier access to affordable food and services.
'The government prioritizes the use of digital technology to drive the grassroots economy, support small businesses, and simultaneously reduce the cost of living for the public, so that money circulates and is distributed evenly throughout the community,' the deputy spokesperson stated.
