Government House Flags Lowered to Half-Mast for Mourning Her Majesty the Queen Mother

Bangkok: Government House flags will be lowered to half-mast in mourning for Her Majesty the Queen Mother. Anutin has canceled his trip to Malaysia to attend the ASEAN summit and called a special cabinet meeting to lay out the framework for the royal ceremony.

According to Thai News Agency, at Government House, at 8:00 a.m., the Thai national flag was raised as usual in front of Santi Maitri Building and on top of Thai Khu Fa Building before being lowered to half-mast. Ministers, civil servants, officials, and members of the media wore black to express their condolences for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, will chair a special cabinet meeting today at Government House at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the assignment of duties for the royal funeral of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.

The Prime Minister, originally scheduled to attend the ASEAN Summit in Malaysia, has had his plans canceled today. Reports indicate that the Prime Minister will attend the meeting tomorrow to sign the Thailand-Cambodia peace treaty, with the US leader serving as an observer. A request to postpone the signing from the afternoon to the morning will be made. However, if the US cannot postpone the signing, Mr. Anutin will appoint Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to sign on his behalf.
