Bangkok: The Government Housing Bank (GHB) has launched a new initiative to mitigate the impact of the ongoing energy crisis by allowing its customers to pay monthly installments of just 1,000 baht at 0% interest for the first three months. This measure targets customers experiencing financial difficulties due to the economic downturn and high energy costs.
According to Thai News Agency, GHB has earmarked a budget of 20 billion baht for the customer assistance measure, known as DC4. The initiative is specifically designed for Special Monitoring (SM) group customers who have held loans for at least one year and are currently facing economic hardship. Customers can register for this relief program through the GHB ALL BFRIEND application until December 31, 2026.
Dr. Mahatthana Ampornphisit, Managing Director of GHB, highlighted that the conflict in the Middle East has contributed to increased energy prices, affecting the cost of living for many customers. As a response, GHB is committed to assisting its clients in overcoming these challenges by offering tailored economic relief measures.
The relief plan is structured as follows: In the first three months, customers will enjoy a 0% interest rate with monthly payments of only 1,000 baht. For the following three months, the monthly payment will be reduced by calculating the interest rate at 1.90% plus 100 baht. In the final six months, the monthly payment will be further reduced with an interest rate calculation of 2.90% plus 100 baht. This structured approach aims to help customers regain their financial footing and retain their homes.
