Bangkok: The government has announced a significant change in child support rates for insured individuals under Sections 33 and 39, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for these families.
According to Thai News Agency, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, revealed that the child welfare payments will be increased from 800 baht to 1,000 baht per month for each eligible child, starting January 1, 2025, with the first disbursement scheduled for April 30. This policy targets insured individuals with children aged from birth to six years, allowing support for up to three children per family. The initiative serves as a strategic move by the government to address the country’s demographic challenges, specifically the declining birth rate against a backdrop of a growing elderly population.
Furthermore, the payment schedule for 2025 has been outlined, with funds being transferred to the insured person’s bank account at the end of each month. For example, eligibility established in January will result in payment in April, and this pattern continues monthly. The government emphasizes that this policy is the outcome of collaborative efforts among various sectors, including employers, insured individuals, and government bodies, all working towards the goal of promoting equitable growth and development for all children.
