Government Mobilizes 300 Medical Personnel for Moto GP 2026

Buriram: The government is mobilizing 300 medical and public health personnel to handle emergency situations during the 2026 Moto GP competition, ensuring safety and building confidence among racers and tourists, both Thai and foreign.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Airin Phanrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government is preparing medical and public health services, including emergency medical and first aid units, to provide services at the first round of the MotoGP World Championship, "PT GRAND PRIX OF THAILAND 2026," at Chang International Circuit in Buriram Province, from February 27 to March 1, 2026. It is expected that more than 300,000 people, including racers, sponsors, and tourists (both Thai and foreign), will visit Buriram and surrounding provinces to watch the competition.

The government has assigned the Ministry of Public Health to mobilize 300 medical and public health personnel to provide efficient care and services in handling emergencies and injuries. This includes ensuring high standards of medical personnel, equipment, and operational plans for on-site assistance, transfer, and transportation of large numbers of injured individuals. The aim is to enhance the safety of residents and tourists visiting the area, both within the province and along their travel routes, thereby building confidence in safety and maintaining a positive image for Thailand.

The organization of the World Motorcycle Championship, which has been held continuously since 2018 for a total of 7 years, has generated economic value between 2018 and 2025. It has attracted over 1.2 million viewers, generating a total economic value of approximately 24 billion baht and an average annual return of approximately 5 billion baht. The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) receives more revenue from ticket sales and management fees than it spends, and is required to return funds to the government according to regulations. Compared to the 800 million baht in funding requested, the economic return is more than six times greater. This doesn't even include the publicity value from live broadcasts reaching 700-800 million households worldwide, Ms. Airin stated.
