Government Mobilizes Efforts to Address Water Pollution in Rangsit Canal

Pathum Thani:The government has initiated urgent measures to address the issue of black, foul-smelling water in the Rangsit Canal, aiming to improve the living conditions for residents along the waterway.

According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongsalooykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government is committed to mitigating the public's suffering caused by stagnant and polluted water in the Rangsit Prayursak Canal area. This has prompted the mobilization of 5,000 liters of wastewater treatment chemicals to be deployed into the canal.

The Royal Irrigation Department is coordinating with the Department of Land Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to tackle the pollution problem. The chemicals, produced using the Super PD.6 biomass enhancer, will be sprayed at the Rangsit Canal pumping station. This agent, developed by the Department of Land Development, employs biological processes and microorganisms to treat wastewater and minimize odors. Its effectiveness, however, depends on the specific water quality and environmental conditions.

The Deputy Spokesperson emphasized the impact of water pollution on residents’ quality of life, particularly for families living close to canals who endure unpleasant odors daily. This government-led initiative aims to alleviate such hardships and restore a healthy living environment. The collaboration between the Royal Irrigation Department and the Department of Land Development underscores the importance of integrated efforts between government agencies to quickly address public concerns.

Efforts are focused on reducing foul odors and restoring water quality, providing tangible relief to the affected communities.
