Bangkok: The public is invited to use the state-run pawnshop service, which is offering interest-free loans for three months.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Airin Phanrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the Government Pawnshop Office (GPO), operating under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, is implementing a policy to ensure equitable access to opportunities for all. The initiative allows individuals to pawn items interest-free for three months with a loan limit of 5,000 baht. Each person is entitled to one right per pawn ticket during the period from January 1-31, 2026.
Ms. Airin stated, "We invite the public to use our pawnbroking service with 3 months of interest-free loans, up to 5,000 baht per person, one right per pawn ticket. This service is available from January 1st to 31st, 2026. This is to help boost liquidity at the beginning of the year in a comfortable, transparent, and fair manner."
The Government Pawnshop Office is prepared to serve citizens across the country, with services available at government pawnshops in Bangkok and surrounding areas, as well as at regional branches in convenient locations.
