Bangkok: The Government Pension Fund (GPF) board has approved the resignation of Thongpol Cheevapanyaroj from his role as Secretary-General, initiating the search for his successor. The move is aimed at continuing the 'Happy Retirement: Freedom for Living' initiative, with the replacement process expected to conclude by the second quarter. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Lawaron Saengsanit, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Chairman of the GPF, announced that Mr. Songpol Cheevapanyaroj resigned to take on the position of Director of the Government Savings Bank, starting March 2, 2026. The GPF board has begun discussions on selecting a new Secretary-General and has appointed a subcommittee led by Mr. Piyawat Sivaraksa, Secretary-General of the Civil Service Commission, to manage the selection process. This initiative aims to ensure that the 'Happy Retirement: Freedom For Living' vision continues, providing members with adequate funds for a secure retirement.
