Government Promotes ‘Half-Half Plus’ Program to Boost Small Business Opportunities

Bangkok: The government is actively encouraging small businesses to apply for the “Half-Half Plus” program, emphasizing its straightforward application process and immediate benefits for participants. Applications for this initiative are open until December 19, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwattana, Deputy Government Spokesperson, together with Mr. Chidchanok Kathinsamit, Executive of the Government Sector Business Group, Krungthai Bank, and staff from the Thammasat University Tha Phra Chan branch, visited the Tha Phra Chan-Tha Maharaj area. Their mission was to promote the “Half-Half Plus” program and encourage small businesses to participate. The program is designed to help small businesses gain access to government benefits, increase income opportunities, and expand eligibility to include community and educational institutions.

During the visit, Ms. Lalida highlighted that the project offers easy application and immediate access to benefits without requiring extensive documentation. On-site staff are available to assist with the entire process, from application to activation of the Tung Ngern app, ensuring that payments are received immediately. This approach is particularly beneficial for merchants who may not be tech-savvy.

As part of a “Walk and Talk” promotional event, businesses not currently in the system were invited to apply for the program. Ms. Lalida addressed entrepreneurs, noting, “This Half-Half Plus program is an opportunity for small businesses. It allows small businesses to gain more customers, and people can reduce their cost of living with every meal they use.”

Ms. Lalida also expressed a personal connection to the Tha Phra Chan-Tha Maharaj area, as she is an alumna of Thammasat University and a former customer of local shops during her student years. She emphasized the importance of reaching out to small businesses that contribute significantly to the community economy.

The event featured a mini-interview with participating merchants to evaluate the project’s impact. The feedback indicated an immediate increase in customer numbers following the launch of the “Half-Half” scheme, especially for restaurants, beverage shops, and small service providers. Small merchants are encouraged to apply for the scheme until December 19, 2025.
