Government Savings Bank Supports Hat Yai Students with Over 3 Million Baht in Supplies

Bangkok: Government Savings Bank (GSB) is extending a helping hand to parents in Hat Yai by providing school supplies valued at over 3 million baht. This initiative aims to support families affected by the recent flooding in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, ensuring the continuity of education for children in the region.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lapawan Chankrajang, Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Government Savings Bank, highlighted that the flooding has significantly impacted families, particularly those with school-aged children. In response, GSB is fulfilling its societal mission by distributing school supplies and equipment to 31 early childhood development centers across 10 municipalities in Hat Yai District. This effort is intended to alleviate parents’ financial burdens and facilitate children’s return to school. The handover ceremony took place at the Kho Hong Municipality, with Ms. Porathai Sompong, Assistant Director of the Government Savings Bank, Branch Operations Divisi
on 6, representing the bank.

The supplies are being distributed to early childhood development centers in various municipalities within Hat Yai District, including Hat Yai City, Ban Phru Town, Kho Hong Town, Khlong Hae Town, Khuan Lang Town, Thung Tam Sao Town, Phatong Subdistrict, Khu Tao Subdistrict, Nam Noi Subdistrict, and Ban Rai Subdistrict. The goal is to provide widespread assistance to reduce the financial strain on parents during the post-flood recovery period.

Government Savings Bank has systematically implemented humanitarian assistance measures for those affected by crises, in line with its social responsibility. In the case of the major flood disaster in Hat Yai District and surrounding areas, the assistance was divided into three phases. Initially, the bank provided immediate emergency aid, including boats for rescues, a mobile kitchen for food distribution, funds for shelters, and relief packages. In the post-flood recovery phase, teams assisted in cleaning up key locations and repaired seve
ral damaged schools. A “Government Savings Bank Helps Repair” service was also introduced to offer free motorcycle repairs. Finally, the focus shifted to rebuilding and providing encouragement to flood victims, with essential supplies helping parents prepare their children for school. Overall, the assistance provided by GSB exceeded 10 million baht.
