Bangkok: A government spokesman has criticized individuals on social media who accused Anutin of attacking the Deputy Commander of the Second Army Region over a donation, declaring the allegations as false and misleading. The spokesman emphasized the government’s commitment to support the military and expressed hope for a swift resolution to the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border. If unresolved, he warned that legal action would be pursued.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat addressed a social media post by Anutin that critiqued Deputy Army Region 2 Commander Maj. Gen. Nat Sri-in. The post questioned why the government hadn’t reached out for a budget from a temple after a monk donated 15 million baht. Siripong declared the post inaccurate and accused it of distorting the Prime Minister’s intentions, reiterating that the government harbored no such plans. He warned that if the misleading post continued to spread and cause harm, legal measures would be taken against those responsible for disseminating false information.
Mr. Siripong affirmed the government’s readiness to support the security sector, highlighting that in the first Cabinet meeting on September 30, 2025, the Prime Minister approved a budget for the security sector without cuts, aligning with the sector’s request. This decision aimed to address the border situation swiftly. He noted that public-spirited individuals wishing to support the military could do so but should clarify their actions publicly to reassure the faithful and the public.
The government’s objective is to promote unity and harmony, urging the public to refrain from spreading rumors that could sow confusion and destruction in the current national climate.
