Nonthaburi: Chaos erupted at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi when a Grade 9 student opened fire, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals and injuries to dozens more. According to Thai News Agency, the tragic incident left the community in shock as parents rushed to the school to retrieve their children in the aftermath. The Prime Minister expressed deep outrage, questioning how such an event could occur in Thailand.

The initial reports state that the shooting led to three confirmed fatalities, all of whom were teachers. More than 15 students were injured, with two in critical condition. The shooter, a male high school student in grade 9, used a 9mm pistol to attack peers and teachers in Building 5 before moving to Building 4, where quick actions by staff and students, who locked doors, prevented further injuries.

Authorities responded swiftly, surrounding the area and attempting to negotiate with the perpetrator. Despite their efforts, the student attempted to escape to a balcony and subsequently shot himself, sustaining severe injuries. Emergency services administered first aid and CPR before transporting him to a hospital.

Foythong Chernyim, a volunteer rescuer from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation, reported discovering a magazine with over 38 rounds of ammunition in the student's possession. The evacuation process saw over 90% of students safely removed from the premises, although some remain hidden. Efforts by police, rescue workers, and teachers continue to ensure all students are evacuated safely from the area by midday.
