Bangkok: A 70-year-old grandmother battling terminal cancer and coping with a leg amputation has made a public appeal for assistance in recovering a debt exceeding 100,000 baht from the mother of a renowned Thai actress. The elderly woman, a former civil servant, is seeking media attention to urge the repayment of this longstanding debt, which she urgently needs for medical treatment and a prosthetic leg.
According to Thai News Agency, the grandmother approached the "Sai Mai Must Survive" Facebook page, seeking help in retrieving the money from the actress's mother, identified as Ms. N. The debt has been outstanding for over seven years, with the grandmother highlighting her dire financial situation while the debtor continues to live comfortably.
In an emotional recount, the grandmother explained that she lent her last remaining pension funds to Ms. N. in 2019 for an investment. Ms. N. assured her that the money would be repaid once she received funds from her daughter, the famous actress and TV presenter. However, despite a recent agreement in mid-August for repayment, the grandmother has only received a few thousand baht, insufficient for her essential medical needs, including oxygen support.
The grandmother's situation is critical, requiring over 200,000 baht for a prosthetic leg this May. She has made a heartfelt plea for compassion, asking both Ms. N. and her daughter to repay the debt, which would allow her to afford necessary medical treatments and improve her quality of life in her remaining days.
