Conakry: Guinea is racing to find those missing after a garbage dump collapse. Guinean authorities have deployed excavators to the site of a garbage landslide to assist volunteers in searching for survivors under the rubble.

According to Thai News Agency, residents and rescue workers are searching for survivors under the rubble after a landslide and garbage dump occurred at a landfill in Conakry, the capital of Guinea, on Sunday. Excavators are being used to clear the debris.

Guinean emergency officials reported that the landslide occurred at the Dar es Salaam landfill following continuous heavy rains. The catastrophe destroyed several homes, leaving approximately 30 people dead and 22 injured. One resident recounted hearing a loud bang around 2:00 AM and going outside to see what was happening before a second wave of debris collapsed, destroying his entire house.
