Bangkok: The guitarist of the band Thotsakan reveals the moments before the lights went out and smoke billowed, prior to the fire at the Lat Phrao brewery. According to Thai News Agency, Maitree Phromrat, the guitarist of the band Tosakan, shared his experiences from the fateful night at the Beer Garden restaurant in Ladprao. Maitree, who has been performing at the venue for a year, described frequent power outages during his performances. He noted that while the owner of the establishment was attentive and enforced strict safety measures for patrons, these recurring electrical issues were a concern.
Maitree recounted the events leading up to the fire, which occurred on a busy night with approximately 100 customers present. As the band played, a distinct burning odor permeated the venue, followed by smoke emerging from the ceiling. It wasn't long before the lights went out, plunging the bar into chaos as patrons began to scream. Maitree quickly evacuated, narrowly escaping before the fire took hold. He observed that a candy shop obstructed the fire escape door leading to the restroom, exacerbating the situation.
Reflecting on the incident, Maitree acknowledged the inherent risks of his profession. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of property, morale, and loved ones in the aftermath of the fire, and shared his uncertainty about how to move forward.
