Dan khun thod: A violent clash involving shooting and knife attacks occurred at the "Taste, Shop, Use" event in Dan Khun Thod, Nakhon Ratchasima, leaving six people injured. According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured two gunshots at the event held in front of the Phokhunthod Monument in Dan Khunthod District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, around 10:30 PM on August 12th. The shooting resulted in injuries to six individuals, including Mr. Prakob, who was slashed in the back, Mr. Weerawut, who was shot in the back and arm, Ms. Supawinee, who sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle, and Mr. Suthon and Mr. Nonthakorn, who were both shot in the arm.
The injured victims were transported to Luang Pho Koon Parisuttho Hospital for treatment. Two of the seriously injured were later transferred to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital. As of now, one individual remains in critical condition, while another has stabilized and is awaiting surgery. Investigators plan to visit the hospital to gather more information from the victims.
Local police have detained a suspect, 32-year-old Mr. Natthakit, and seized a homemade handgun believed to be used in the incident. During initial questioning at Dan Khun Thod Police Station, Mr. Natthakit confessed to the shooting, explaining that an argument erupted with the event organizers, who accused him of motorcycle theft. He claimed the gunfire was an attempt to assist a friend being apprehended.
Mr. Natthakit faces an initial charge of "attempted murder using a firearm," with the possibility of additional charges pending further investigation. Police are currently analyzing CCTV footage and forensic evidence while collaborating with the investigative team to locate and arrest any remaining accomplices still at large.
