Bangkok: In a brazen attack, a gunman fatally shot an air conditioning technician in the middle of Soi Pracha Uthit 27, Rat Burana district. Police quickly apprehended the gunman.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred in Soi Pracha Uthit 27, Intersection 8, Rat Burana District, Bangkok, at 7:30 PM yesterday. The deceased, Mr. Woraphot Sae-Koo, 41 years old, an air conditioning technician, was shot multiple times in the head and body with a 9mm handgun. A motorcycle was found overturned nearby. Police found nine spent shell casings scattered on the ground, along with a mobile phone and a pair of black sandals, believed to have been dropped by the perpetrator.
Locals said the deceased was not from the area but was riding his motorcycle to visit a friend in this alley. While he was leaving, he was shot multiple times by the assailant. Police examined a phone found at the scene and identified it as belonging to Mr. Chinawat, 44, who lives in a condominium in Soi Pracha Uthit 33. They questioned him, but he initially denied the allegations. He was then taken to Rat Burana Police Station for further investigation.
But finally, after an intense all-night interrogation, Mr. Chinawat confessed and led authorities to the scene where they seized a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, along with the shirt, pants, and motorcycle used in the crime. The perpetrator claimed the motive stemmed from a long-standing argument, but he has not yet revealed details about who had problems with whom, or whether there was a direct conflict with the deceased. Further questioning is ongoing, but initially, no connection to drug-related conflicts has been found.
Police will take the suspect to the Thonburi Criminal Court tomorrow for remand on charges of homicide with a firearm and violations of the Firearms Act. They will also oppose bail due to the severity of the crime, the high penalties involved, and the fear that the suspect may flee.
