Gunman Fatally Stabs Soldier’s Father While Exercising in Prachinburi Province

Prachinburi: A gunman fatally stabbed the father of a border soldier while he was exercising in his village in Prachinburi province. The soldier's son rushed home upon receiving the tragic news. Neighbors reported that the perpetrator had conflicts with nearly every household in the area.

According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from Khon Mai Village in Khok Mai Lai Subdistrict captured the moment the 52-year-old man was attacked while exercising in front of his house. Police arriving at the scene discovered Mr. Amnat with multiple stab wounds. His exercise equipment, a three-wheeled bicycle, was found toppled near his body. The suspected assailant, Mr. Panuwat, known as "Nok," aged 39, fled the scene on a motorcycle that had no license plates. Authorities are currently conducting a manhunt for him.

Initial reports reveal that the victim suffered nearly 20 stab wounds, with significant injuries to the neck where his windpipe was severed by a sharp object. The victim's son, stationed on the border in Nong Chan, Sa Kaeo Province, left his post immediately to return home after hearing of his father's death.

Witnesses described the assailant as someone who had longstanding issues with many in the community. He had been arrested multiple times but was often released. On the day of the incident, there was no altercation; the victim was exercising when he possibly noticed the assailant approaching with a knife. As the victim attempted to retreat on his bicycle, the assailant pursued him, stabbing him while declaring, "This is my territory." The victim's sister recounted that the assailant was known for his aggressive and confrontational nature, even towards his family. His frequent imprisonments were linked to his drug addiction, prompting her to move away for safety. She expressed disbelief that he would commit such a heinous act.
