Heated Again, KNLA Joins KNDO to Attack Myanmar Soldiers

Bangkok: The Thai-Myanmar border on the opposite side of Tak Province: The region is experiencing renewed turmoil as the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) teams up with the Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) to launch assaults on Myanmar soldiers stationed at the Repanadi base. The conflict has forced more than 100 refugees to seek safety across the border in Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, reports from the Rajamanu Force indicate that early this morning, combined forces of the KNLA and KNDO approached the Myanmar military base at the Repanadi Base, located in Laengpoi District, Pha-an District, Karen State. The base, which is opposite Ban Mae Ok Pha Ru in Mae La Subdistrict, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province, is approximately 2.5 kilometers from the border. The attack involved the use of drones to continuously drop bombs throughout the day, targeting the Myanmar military’s 24th Infantry Battalion.

The violent exchanges have resulted in 180 Myanmar refugees crossing into Thailand. The Rajamanu Task Force, the 35th Ranger Regiment Task Force, and the Naresuan Task Force, in collaboration with the police and local administration of Tha Song Yang District, have been actively providing security and humanitarian aid. Refugees have been accommodated in two temporary safe areas:

1. Mae La Temple, Village 1, Mae La Subdistrict, accommodating 161 people.

2. Ban Mae Ok Pha Ru Monastery, Village 3, Mae La Subdistrict, hosting 19 people.

In response to the escalating situation, the Rajamanu Task Force and the 35th Ranger Regiment Task Force, along with the Naresuan Task Force, have intensified patrols along the border. They are deploying additional weapons as part of the incident response plan to prevent any breach of sovereignty by foreign armed forces and to ensure the safety of the local population around the clock.
