Phetchaburi:Heavy rainfall is anticipated in Phetchaburi, prompting the government to closely monitor the situation, particularly the Kaeng Krachan Dam. The southern regions and Chachoengsao are also at risk, with warnings issued about potential flash floods and landslides. Rainfall in the Northeast is decreasing, while conditions in the Central region are expected to improve between October 12-14.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, reported that water levels are receding in the Mae Klong and Chao Phraya river basins. However, Phetchaburi requires vigilant observation due to the dam and expected rainfall around October 10th.
The water flow in Nakhon Sawan was measured at 2,200 cubic meters per second, while the Chao Phraya Dam is releasing water at 2,500 cubic meters per second. Rising water levels are being observed in Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Nonthaburi. Residents are advised to follow government announcements closely.
In the Mae Klong River basin, Bang Khon Thi and Amphawa districts require close monitoring due to standing water. In Chachoengsao, several flooded roads necessitate caution, with drivers advised to check routes with the Department of Highways. In Bangkok, flooded areas include Chaokhun Thahan Road, Chalong Krung Road, and Lat Krabang Road, where the public is advised to avoid travel.
Ms. Lalida also highlighted forecasts from the Meteorological Department, indicating rain in the Northeast today and on October 5th in the lower central region, Bangkok, and the South, with reduced rain in the Northeast. Heavy rain is expected in the South, West, and East on October 6th, with flash flood and landslide warnings issued for the South.
Mr. Fata Marasathee, a specialist in meteorological forecasting, noted that rain is expected due to a low-pressure system in the northeastern and upper northern regions on October 4th. From October 5th to 6th, various regions, including Bangkok, will be affected, with decreased rain in the Northeast. Rain is forecasted in the southern region on October 8th and 9th due to a high-pressure system, and in the central, eastern, and southern regions during the seasonal transition from October 10th to 11th. Improvements are expected in the central region from October 12th to 14th, as rain shifts to the southern region.
