Heavy Rain Causes Severe Flooding in Patong, Phuket

Patong:Phuket Heavy rain continued overnight in Phuket, leading to flash floods that inundated several areas of Patong. The persistent downpour left many streets impassable for small vehicles and caused parked cars to become submerged.

According to Thai News Agency, the rainfall persisted from last night through the morning of October 26, 2026, resulting in flash floods and localized flooding across Patong. Water from the 50-Year-Old Mountain flowed into residential areas and streets such as Soi Na Nai 8, the Pearl Roundabout, and Phang Muang Road A. In some parts, mud mixed with the floodwaters further obstructed traffic, especially for smaller vehicles.

Phuket authorities had previously issued warnings urging the public to stay vigilant due to the forecasted continuous heavy rainfall. Earlier reports indicated that several areas, including Thalang District, Phuket City District, and Kathu District, experienced flooding and traffic disruptions. Significant areas of Thep Krasattri Road, Phra Phuket Kaew Road, and regions in Rawai, Chalong, and Choeng Thale were affected, with water levels too high for smaller vehicles.

Rainfall data showed that between 100 and 200 AM on October 26th, Ban Na Yai station recorded 117 millimeters of rain, Bang Niao Dam reservoir 94.4 millimeters, the Rawai area 93.2 millimeters, and Bang Wad Dam 88.2 millimeters, indicating substantial rainfall accumulation.

The Meteorological Department has warned that the southern region will continue to experience heavy rainfall from October 25-28, which may lead to flash floods, landslides, and mudslides, particularly in hillside areas and low-lying regions. Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to monitor the situation closely and avoid areas with high or rapid water flow.

At 620 AM, Mr. Chotinrin Kerdsum, Governor of Phuket Province, tasked Mr. Romdon Haji Awae, Deputy Governor, along with officials, to inspect the flood-affected areas in Soi Na Nai 5, Patong Subdistrict, Kathu District. Various agencies have deployed resources to clean the affected areas and support those impacted by the floods.

Efforts are ongoing by the Phuket Provincial Administration and related agencies to monitor the situation and provide assistance, aiming to restore normalcy for residents as swiftly as possible.
