Bangkok:Central Region: The central region is expected to experience heavy rainfall and potential flooding from September 24 to 26, though it is not anticipated to replicate the severe 2011 floods.

According to Thai News Agency, the National Disaster Warning Council Foundation and the Climate and Disaster Center at Rangsit University have updated the flood risk situation. They predict heavy rainfalls that could lead to flash floods and community-level flooding during the specified period.

The risk assessment indicates that areas prone to severe flooding are marked in orange within a blue frame. These assessments utilize a color-coding system at various resolutions to highlight areas where accumulated rainfall is expected to exceed 300 mm, carrying an approximate 5% chance of occurrence, marking rainfall levels not seen in over two decades.

For the Chao Phraya-Tha Chin river basin in the central region, the water flow upstream is estimated to be about 40% less than in 2011, reducing the risk of a major flood. Nevertheless, the anticipated heavy rainfall could cause localized community flooding and standing water, with the severity dependent on local management efforts.

The Disaster Warning Foundation emphasizes the importance of preparedness and vigilance, advising residents to remain aware of potential risks and to plan accordingly, without causing unnecessary panic.
