Rio de janeiro: A tragic helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, resulted in the loss of six lives on Sunday morning, including that of the renowned 32-year-old American singer Oliver Tree. The collision involved two helicopters that crashed mid-air, leading to a fiery aftermath.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident involved one helicopter carrying five individuals, including passengers and pilots, and another helicopter with only a pilot on board. This catastrophic event was captured on local CCTV, showing one helicopter plummeting and igniting upon impact. The crash site, a parking lot of an electric vehicle showroom, experienced a significant fire that destroyed more than 20 electric vehicles.
Authorities disclosed that the remains of the victims were severely charred, complicating immediate identification. However, confirmation of the fatalities was accomplished through the passenger manifest. Besides Oliver Tree, the collision claimed the lives of prominent figures such as Gaspar Prim Daz, a popular 23-year-old Argentinian YouTuber; Lucas Vignale, an Argentinian film director; and Lucas Brito Chaves, a Brazilian music producer.
The Brazilian Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention Office, together with the Civil Aviation Authority, is conducting an urgent investigation by analyzing data recorders and other evidence to uncover the cause of the accident.
Oliver Tree, celebrated for his chart-topping tracks "Life Goes On" and "Miss You," was in Brazil for his World's First World Tour, promoting his latest musical work. He had recently performed in So Paulo on June 6th and shared a personal moment on social media, playing football in Brazil, a day before the tragedy. His tour was set to continue in Europe in July.
