Nakhon si thammarat: One student died and another was injured after being electrocuted at a moral development camp in Thungyai District.
According to Thai News Agency, the tragedy occurred at approximately 7:00 PM yesterday when police from Thungyai Police Station were alerted about the incident at a local temple. The students, from a private high school, were participating in a morality and ethics camp scheduled from June 24th to 26th. The students were electrocuted while showering in an unfinished restroom at the temple.
Police investigations revealed that the likely cause of the electrocution was faulty and leaking electrical wiring in the bathroom. The injured student, a 13-year-old boy, was transferred to the hospital by teachers along with the body of the deceased, a 14-year-old boy.
The school is collaborating with the police to investigate the true cause of the incident and to determine any legal implications. In response to the tragedy, the school has immediately terminated the camp and is preparing a comprehensive statement regarding the incident.
The moral development camp aimed to instill virtues, ethics, and good values in students.
