Bangkok: Hot weather continues to prevail across Thailand, accompanied by scattered rain in the southern region, as the northern parts experience accumulating dust and haze. Northern Thailand is particularly affected with hot to very hot weather and hazy conditions during the day, while Southern Thailand faces scattered thunderstorms.
According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department forecasts that upper Thailand will generally remain hot, with certain areas experiencing extremely high temperatures and hazy conditions due to a heat-induced low-pressure system. Weak southerly and southwesterly winds are contributing to scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds in these regions. The public is advised to protect their health from the hot conditions by avoiding extended periods outdoors and to remain cautious of potential thunderstorms.
In the southern region, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected, with hot daytime weather. Westerly winds over the Andaman Sea and southern Thailand, along with southeasterly winds over the lower Gulf of Thailand, are responsible for these conditions. Residents are urged to be mindful of potential dangers from thunderstorms and strong winds.
Bangkok and surrounding areas are experiencing generally hot weather, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 26-28 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 37-40 degrees Celsius, and some areas facing extreme heat and haze during the day. The northern, northeastern, and upper central parts of Thailand are seeing high levels of particulate matter due to density of hotspots exceeding ventilation capacity, prompting health advisories for the public to avoid outdoor activities and wear N95 masks if necessary.
