Bangkok: The House Committee on Communications has received a letter reinforcing support for the TH-AI Passport initiative, emphasizing the importance of reducing the digital divide while ensuring transparency and accountability in its implementation.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Alongkot Maneekas, Chairman of the Committee on Communications, Telecommunications, and Digital Economy and Society, along with committee members, received the letter from Ms. Suchitra Taplad and Mr. Preecha Sripradoo, representing the public and business sectors, respectively. The letter advocates for the continued advancement of the TH-AI Passport project, which aims to enhance AI knowledge among Thai citizens.
The public and business sectors have expressed strong support for the TH-AI Passport initiative, urging the government to ensure its transparent and inclusive execution. As AI technology rapidly integrates into sectors like education, medicine, agriculture, and government administration, Thailand must not lag in developing AI skills among its citizens. The TH-AI Passport is seen as a critical tool for equipping citizens with AI knowledge, thus reducing the digital divide and enhancing the nation's economic competitiveness.
The project aims to provide AI education across all regions, irrespective of socioeconomic status, thereby bolstering the Thai workforce's ability to compete on an international scale. By fostering an innovation-based economy, the initiative is expected to spark new businesses and economic opportunities.
Both sectors demand that government projects maintain transparency and accountability, without halting progress. They outlined several key demands to ensure the project's success: continuous government support, establishment of monitoring systems for public scrutiny, expanded access to diverse groups, development of practical curricula, and clear success indicators to measure outcomes.
The letter calls for relevant agencies to implement the TH-AI Passport project in a manner that enables all Thai citizens to harness AI technology, fostering self-reliance and competitiveness in the global landscape.
