House of Representatives Issues Dress Code Notice Amid Energy Crisis

Bangkok: A notice has been issued by the House of Representatives regarding a new dress code for Members of Parliament in parliamentary sessions. This decision is part of a broader initiative to address the country's energy and fuel situation, which has been affected by the ongoing conflict and fighting in the Middle East.

According to Thai News Agency, the House of Representatives has taken steps to mitigate the impact of the energy crisis by implementing stringent energy conservation measures. One such measure includes increasing the air conditioning temperatures within the House of Representatives premises. To accommodate these changes, the Speaker of the House has issued a notice under Section 181, paragraph two of the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives B.E. 2562.

Members of Parliament are now permitted to wear Thai silk garments or shirts in modest colors, along with ties and long trousers or skirts in modest colors, without the requirement of wearing suits. This adjustment is intended to ensure comfort in the warmer environment and will remain in effect until the situation returns to normal.
