Sam meng: The Security Committee insists on expediting the proposal to the government to provide compensation for the impact of the border conflict. Rome led the House Security Committee to inspect the Sam Meng Health Promotion Hospital area, stressing the urgency of a proposal to the government for compensation due to the ongoing border clashes. Villagers expressed their desire for the conflict to end, admitting their fear of the Cambodian troops advancing close to the border.
According to Thai News Agency, the House of Representatives Committee on State Security, Thai Border Affairs, National Strategy, and National Reform, led by Mr. Rangsiman Rome, a party-list MP and Deputy Leader of the Prachachon Party, as Committee Chairman, visited Sam Meng Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital. Local residents were present to welcome them and reflect on the multidimensional problems caused by unrest along the border.
Mr. Rangsiman told the villagers that the visit aimed to survey emergency preparedness and listen to the real-world hardships and suffering of the people in the area. He urged the people to convey their concerns to the committee, ensuring that their issues could be addressed to alleviate their suffering.
Villagers were given the opportunity to voice their hardships. Mr. Udom, a rubber farmer, expressed difficulties in collecting rubber due to fear of the situation and requested the committee chairman to present the farmers’ concerns to relevant agencies.
Ms. Khemjira Chanthong, Director of Ban Sam Meng Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, reported a clash on July 24th, prompting immediate evacuation of patients. The hospital building suffered damage, preventing full service, and officials continue to work under anxiety. She urged the committee to expedite the matter to the government for compensation and repairs.
Mr. Rangsiman offered words of encouragement, acknowledging the importance of addressing mental health issues among officials and the public. He confirmed the committee’s commitment to report these concerns to relevant agencies for assistance. He emphasized the need for international negotiations to resolve the situation and pledged to propose demands to alleviate the suffering of the people.
Ms. Thongsa, a local farmer, narrated the impact on her livelihood, stating that clashes damaged her agricultural produce, resulting in a loss this year. She urged the Thai military to take action to resolve the situation.
Mr. Rangsiman assured that he will expedite a letter to the government for relief and repairs to public places, while considering measures to assist affected farmers and individuals. The committee will monitor progress and ensure continuous follow-up to alleviate the suffering of people in border areas.
