Illegal Logging Discovery Sparks Investigation in Ranong Province

Ranong: Police from the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Division have discovered numerous giant logs, believed to have been illegally cut from a natural forest on Khao Pak Tiam mountain in Kamphuan sub-district, Suk Samran district, Ranong province, near Damrong Sasan School. Initial inspection revealed a total of 39 logs.

According to Thai News Agency, officials have reported that a former village headman in Kamphuan sub-district has presented documents claiming ownership of the timber, alleging it was cut from 105 plots of land on Khao Pak Tiam mountain. Police are preparing to investigate further to ascertain the facts.
