Immigration Bureau responds to government policy of visa-free for 93 countries

Bangkok, The Immigration Bureau has welcomed the 60-day visa-free policy for tourists from 93 countries worldwide, effective from July 15, 2024, confirming that it has deployed personnel to upgrade the notification system for foreigners' accommodations in Thailand. From the policy of Mr. Settha Thavisin, the Prime Minister, proposing a 60-day visa exemption or visa-free for 93 countries, effective from July 15, 2024, to stimulate the number of tourists and generate more income from the tourism sector, regarding this matter today, Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana Nuchnarat, Deputy Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, said that the Immigration Bureau has prepared measures to support the policy from the beginning. It is well aware that if there is economic stimulus, there will be more foreigners traveling in and out of the country. Currently, there is already an increase in travel in and out of the country. In terms of travel, there will be more officers to help facilitate. And in cases where the channel is crowded, there will be more immigration officers to fill the inspection channel during rush hours when there are a large number of passengers arriving at the same time. Each person will be facilitated for no more than 45 seconds/person. If some people have doubts, they will be invited for further discussion. We will try to prevent the inspection channel from being crowded and make travel in and out better. Another problem that will follow is the problem of committing crimes. The Immigration Bureau has a Biernetric system, which is a system for checking people entering the airport and watching out for dangerous people. In this part, there is no need to worry because the system will check the residences of foreigners in Thailand. However, if citizens have information about wrongdoings, they can report it to the Immigration Bureau. The officers will use that information to investigate and arrest the wrongdoers.
