The South Korean football club Incheon United said Friday their head coach Cho Sung-hwan will resign. A club official said Cho will coach his final match later Friday against Gimcheon Sangmu FC. Cho will be the fourth head coaching casualty in the top-flight K League 1 this season. The 53-year-old had been at Incheon's helm since August 2020. Through last weekend's action, Incheon ranked ninth among 12 teams in the K League 1 with 20 points from four wins, eight draws and eight losses. They have dropped three straight matches and have gone winless in seven matches, with three draws and four losses. Incheon are only four points ahead of last-place Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. Cho took over the club in the middle of the 2020 season and helped the team avoid direct relegation to the K League 2 by winning the final match of the season. In 2022, Incheon finished in fourth place and earned their first trip to the Asian Football Confederation Champions League. They were once again among the five best teams last yea r but injuries to key players took a toll on the squad this year. Source: Yonhap News Agency
