Jakarta: Indonesia is considering allowing one day a week of working from home to reduce fuel costs. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, revealed yesterday that the Indonesian government is preparing to implement a flexible work policy, allowing officials to work from home one day a week, following rising oil and energy prices amid conflicts in the Middle East.
According to Thai News Agency, China's official Xinhua news agency reported that Hartarto stated the policy has significantly reduced gasoline consumption, accounting for only one-fifth of the usual budget. He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the situation, from oil prices to the war situation, and is prepared to adjust measures accordingly.
This policy will apply to government officials, but the private sector can also adapt it. The technical details of the policy are still being finalized, and it is expected to come into effect soon.
