Chonburi:Industry Minister Varawut Chan-o-cha conducted an inspection of the Amata City Industrial Estate to address the flooding crisis and called for immediate measures to assist affected businesses. During his visit, he instructed the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) to compile a report on the situation and present it to the Cabinet within one to two weeks.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut met with various stakeholders, including representatives from Amata Corporation, foreign companies, and local officials, to discuss the impact of the flooding. He emphasized the Prime Minister's concern for businesses impacted by the floods and urged Amata City to double its water pumping capacity. Additionally, he suggested that factories located near canals may need to build individual flood barriers and highlighted the importance of emergency warning systems and sandbag usage.
Mr. Varawut expressed his intention to submit the matter for Cabinet consideration as swiftly as possible. He noted the need for a comprehensive inspection of factories nationwide to ensure compliance with standards that would aid both small and large businesses. The Minister conveyed that the Ministry of Industry is committed to addressing the concerns of affected entrepreneurs and implementing measures to prevent future incidents. He also offered his condolences and support to all the businesses affected by the flooding.
